Beer Log: Max Special Hops 2010

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll have noticed that Max occasionally comes out with new types of beer. Since I spend a lot of time browsing the beer options (foreign and domestic), I come across them often.  On January 23rd, 2010, Max came out with their amazing “Max: The Premium Edition” which was a refreshing and natural tasting Australian Aroma Hop beer.

Well, check your local Mart (마트), be it E or Lotte, because you’ll find Max: Special Hops 2010. It should come in somewhere around 7,000원. This one isn’t quite as good as The Premium, as the name might imply, but it does still have a natural hop flavour which comes from the South African sourced hops it is made from. Plus, there’s no chemical aftertaste! And this is all for a domestic beer price.

As you can see, I have two 6-packs, because I only ended up finding the Premium edition once before it was all gone.

Beer Log Vol. III – Max, The Premium Edition

Looks pretty fancy, eh? Max has always been one of the better domestic (Korean) beers, because of it’s use of real hops. When I am feeling cheap, I go for Max instead of a European beer.

Today, I was in my local Home plus ( 문래점) and I noticed an interesting-looking case of max with a glass attached to it. I am a sucker for new products and promotional items. So, I got a six-pack for 9,200원 and made my way home. Not bad. It says it uses “premium malt” and hops from Australia (Australia really has done well marketing itself in Korea). Though, that means nothing to me. It’s not so bitter, but it has a nice clean taste without the chemical aftertaste of some Korean beer.

Beer List Vol. II – Leffe Brown

I got this Belgian beauty, Leffe Brown, at Home plus also. They have a good selection of imported beer. Go there.

Beer List Vol. I – Moosehead

You may or may not know that Moosehead Beer (brewed in Saint John, NB) is stocked at most (or all) Home plus (their capitalisation, not mine) locations. This 350ml bottle goes for 2,750원.

Yes, I am watching Deep Space 9 6×11 – “Waltz” (Memory Alpha is great, you know) while Twittering and watching news feeds. My solution to my recent inability to focus is to give in to it. The Samsung LD190 (Lapfit) helps with that. By the way, Korean technology should be cheaper in Korea! What the hell.
